Here are some reminders of some basics I'm sure most of you already know, but is worth repeating.
Although setups and fine tuning your car is very important for the more serious drivers, keep this in
mind, "You can give the worst setup to the better drivers and they will
perform better than bad drivers with the best setup." Why is this true? The better drivers have learned the skills of basic good racing
and apply them while driving. It might be added these basic skills apply to every car and truck you race, this makes the basic
drivering skill very important. Key that can never say enough about how important it is to become a
smooth driver, so let's start with smooth, not jerky or erratic transitions with the wheel, brake, throttle, and your movement from one area to another on the track. With smooth
movements, you will create the essential consistency that will give you the core of your basic driving skills. Next patience, don't take unnecessary chances, save your vehicle so you have something left for the end
of the race. Stay focused, get your car setup before you enter the races in the testing or practice
sessions. Going into a race with confidence is very important. Make sure you have the correct setup you want
for that race and track. Get your race strategy in place before you start the race. Tire Pressure (Video) Larry McReynolds explains how different tire pressures change the way a race car handles.
